SUBJECT: Wickliffe PTO Weekly - What to watch for this week (3.21.2023)

Facebook
What to watch for this week:
Welcome back!

We hope everyone had a relaxing and fun spring break. Just before the break, our PTO hosted their second annual Wickliffe Art Show, which was a huge success as we raised almost $15,000. A gigantic thank you to the Art Show Committee of Ashley Neeley, Chi Nguyen, Tobin Juday, Michelle Rafeld, and Andrea Bartosch for all their hard work planning this event. Thank you to those who volunteered your time during the event, all the musicians who played, and each of our families who came, contributed, and enjoyed the experience. It was wonderful being together celebrating the student's art.

As we look ahead to future community events please mark your calendar for our upcoming Wickliffe Wolves Around the World Multicultural Event on April 25 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the school. This is going to be an amazing night to sample food, watch performances, create arts and crafts, and so much more. This is a free event to attend and open to all families. If interested in sharing your family's cultures and traditions, please use this survey to sign up for what you will bring or do to share at the event. (feel free to sign up for more than one!)

Have a great week!

Surprise staff lounge update

The PTO Staff Appreciation Committee has been planning a staff lounge update for a few months now and finally just last night the project was completed! A major thank you to Annie Maclean, who worked on the interior design of the space, material list, and led the install. She was supported by Jayme Aronberg, Katie McShane, and our custodian Steve to pull it all together last night. Check out these before and after photos. What a huge difference!!! We know the staff will love it.

We are doing a 6-week rotation. Now it is time for all 4th and 5th grade families to contribute.

We love our teachers and want to stock their lounge! Please sign up here and let everyone know what you are bringing, so we make sure to provide everything they want. Spring PTO After School Discovery

Wickliffe PTO's After School Discovery spring session starts this coming Monday, March 27. Please check the website at https://www.wickliffepto.org/asd for the final schedule. We still need parent volunteers to help with dismissal to make sure that our kids get from the exit door to their adult picking them up. This is a very short 20-30-minute volunteer session, and it is so important to help keep everyone safe! Please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0549a9a72ca2fc1-dismissal1#/. Thank you!

The STAND Project

CAN YOU SEE ME NOW?

THURSDAY, MARCH 23 | 6-8 p.m. | UAHS Performing Arts Center

*For 18+ years of age. Recommended for parents of 5th-12th graders.

A collaboration with Hilliard HART (Health Awareness & Recovery Together), this interactive program will allow attendees to explore a simulated teen bedroom to identify potential warning signs of drug and alcohol use and risky behavior. First responders and school resource officers will also discuss local laws and current trends and concerns within the UA community regarding substance use and mental health.

THE DANGEROUS TRUTH ABOUT TODAY'S MARIJUANA

THURSDAY, APRIL 13 | 6:30-8 p.m. | UAHS Performing Arts Center

*For 18+ years of age. Younger teens must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Through the generosity of Upper Arlington Rotary and UAHS, The Stand Project welcomes Laura Stack, founder of Johnny's Ambassadors. After presenting to the full UAHS student body during the school day, Laura will devote an evening program to parents and adults in the community. She will weave her personal story throughout a FACT-based - not FEAR-based - science presentation about marijuana: truths vs myths, how drastically the substance has changed in recent years, and the many dangers that today's high-THC marijuana products pose - especially to young developing brains and bodies.

We need volunteers!

Lunch volunteers - new dates available
Our fabulous Chef Mike could use two volunteers every day for lunch. It is a super fun way to contribute and see all the students at lunch time. Sign up here:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4faaaf22a5f58-lunch

Chef Mike would love to have a list of subs who are available certain days of the week and can be called or contacted in case the person who signed up needs to cancel. This way if you can't make your shift you can look at the sub list and work on finding a replacement. Please click here to add yourself to the sub list.

Walking Club
We are looking for Walking Club volunteers! There are many spots available. Please review the available slots and click on the button to sign up. It's lots of fun! Thank you!

Love to run?

The PTO After School Discovery program is looking for adults with a passion for running. We would love to add a running club to the spring session of classes and are seeking an instructor. Class would be from 3-4 one day per week for 6 weeks. And, you would get paid! Please email wickliffeptoasd@gmail.com if you are interested. This would be so great for our kids!

Classroom helpers
The Wickliffe PTO is looking for some helpers. Our teachers have so much on their plates and we are looking to lighten their load by starting a room parent program. We have gathered teacher requests and are now looking to fill these spots. Do you have a few minutes a week to devote to this and want to learn more? Just fill out this form!

Thanks!
Desiree Hickey, Family Connect Chair
