Winter ASD registration is open

Registration for the Wickliffe PTO’s After School Discovery (ASD) program opened last week and runs through TONIGHT, Tuesday, January 10, at 11:59 p.m. This program lets K-5 students at Wickliffe explore diverse interests through fun extracurricular courses such as sports, creative arts, engineering, languages, and more. Visit https://www.wickliffepto.org/asd to register, to see a list of all courses and their descriptions, and for scholarship information. Classes begin on January 17 and will run for six sessions. They will be held at Wickliffe immediately after school from 3-4 p.m.

Visit http://www.wickliffepto.org/open_forms to register. You will be prompted to login, and then After School Discovery will be listed under the heading "Store & Date (Information) Forms." Please look for a confirmation email following registration. Some classes do fill up quickly.

We are also seeking volunteers to help with student dismissal to make sure students get where they need to go after the ASD session ends. They are short, 30-minute volunteer slots, so please consider helping! Even just signing up for a single session would help out. Sign up here.

A limited number of scholarships are available to help close the gap between a family's ability to pay and the course fee. Applications for consideration can be submitted to the ASD Committee through the Scholarship Request FormSubmissions will be treated with discretion and only shared as needed for the purpose of approving and awarding scholarship funds.

Did you know there is also a list of subs who can be contacted in case the person who signed up needs to cancel? This way if you can't make your shift, you can easily find a replacement. You can also add yourself to the substitute list for certain days of the week if you are interested in helping out more.

DEI discussions
The Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion committee has some exciting events coming up!
  • Thursday, January 19, 5:30 p.m., at Wickliffe we will be holding our first book club to discuss Demystifying Disability by Emily Ladau to learn the history of disability and how to better support an inclusive community. Haven't finished (or started!) the book by January 19? No problem! Come for the discussion regardless of progress as we learn together. Reserve or buy the book now and sign up here so we know how many people to plan for.
  • We have created a sign up for subcommittees to help host/moderate other upcoming events. Check out the details and sign up here.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a great time to discuss his meaningful work and legacy with children!

Looking to help out with the Coffee Cart this winter?

Our Staff Appreciation Committee brings a cart of coffee, tea, treats, and snacks around the school to share with all staff. It’s a small but important way to show our educators our immense appreciation for all they do (and help them sneak in a little caffeine!).

The coffee cart is offered on Wednesdays from 7:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. and we are in search of volunteers to help with a morning shift (making coffee, stocking the cart, and walking it around to the classrooms). Can’t join us in person? You can also support by making an early morning donut run. Lots of ways to get involved! Contact Marjie.Bland@gmail.com if you’re interested in helping!

BoxTop for Education

BoxTop for Education

Dear Families,

Are you looking for a quick and easy way to support our school?

Box Tops for Education has been around for over 25 years, and it really can make a difference. In fact, the Box Tops program has helped give almost one billion dollars to schools since 1996.

The Box Tops app gives participants the ability to earn for any school across the country with just the touch of a button. Plus, the Box Tops app allows you to search for schools that could use a little extra help, so you can help give students in low-income schools the opportunity to succeed.
