SUBJECT: Wickliffe PTO Weekly - What to watch for this week (10.25.2022)

Facebook
What to watch for this week:
Thank you weather...

And all of our volunteers for making our first Outdoor Movie Night a success! It was a great way to spend a beautiful fall Friday night. We couldn't have done it without the help from Michelle Rafeld, Sam Knight, AJ James, and Kinsley Giles!

This week we have an early dismissal for teacher conferences. We want to thank our staff appreciation team for organizing lunch for teachers and staff on Thursday. This is possible because of the generous support from our families during fundraising events.

Don't forget, the Fun Run is coming up! Make sure you register today!

Have a great week!

Keep our schools strong!
Upper Arlington Schools have put a much needed $6.9 million l operating levy - Issue 5 - on the fall ballot!  Enrollment has increased and is projected to grow by another 1,500 students in the next 10 years, but state funding has remained unchanged for over 30 years. Issue 5 is needed to keep the educational quality our students' success and to meet community expectations. Please visit http://foruaschools.com to learn more about why this levy is necessary to keep our schools strong. Please consider helping with the following:
  • Sign up to receive a Yard Sign
  • Register to vote - early, absentee, or on Election Day
  • Donate
  • Host a coffee chat - a 90-minute small group (5-25 people) gathering led by Superintendent Paul Imhoff and Treasurer/CFO Andy Geistfeld who will present facts and figures related to UA Schools and respond to specific questions from the group
  • Volunteer - deliver yard signs, canvass, send emails and texts, make phone calls, greet voters, host a speaker, and more….

Our community values high quality education so let's keep UA schools strong! Follow Citizens for UA on Facebook and Instagram: @foruaschools

To learn more about the upcoming levy vote, check out this website and read the FAQs here. And remember to vote on November 8!

Guess who's back? Coffee Cart is back!

Cooler weather calls for hot coffee, tea, and treats for our dedicated Wickliffe staff. One of the core offerings of the Staff Appreciation Committee is the Coffee Cart. We make coffee and tea, gather treats and snacks, and then travel throughout the school to share with all staff. It’s a small but important way to show our educators our immense appreciation for all they do (and help them sneak in a little caffeine!).

We will kick off the coffee cart on Wednesday, November 2, from 7:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. and are in search of volunteers to help with a morning shift (making coffee, stocking the cart, and walking it around to the classrooms). Can’t join us in person? You can also support by making an early morning donut run. Lots of ways to get involved! Contact Marjie.Bland@gmail.com if you’re interested in helping!

Interior design expertise wanted!

Do you have an eye for design? A knack for making spaces more inviting, cozy, or exciting? The Wickliffe PTO Staff Appreciation Committee would like to spruce up the teacher’s lounge, and we could use your help! Thanks to all who have donated supplies and other items, and we’re now well on our way to making this space as special as our amazing Wickliffe staff. We just need that extra support from you! A volunteer with expertise in interior design can support by providing guidance on the placement of items, new items to purchase or request, and other general design best practices you might be willing to share. This is an opportunity to give back to the school using your expertise and on your schedule!

Interested, reaching out to Marjie.Bland@gmail.com for more information.

This must-see program will offer attendees a wealth of information about alcohol, vaping, marijuana, prescription medications, cocaine, heroin, mushrooms, methamphetamines, LSD, and fentanyl - just to name a few. Our school resource officers also will be on hand to educate about current trends in substance use within the UA community.

Please note that this is not a program for students, nor can it be recorded due to the nature of its content.
