The fall mum sale was a huge success last year and enabled us to provide teacher grants for all of our teachers and staff. Let’s do it again this year!

Wickliffe PTO's After School Discovery (ASD) enrichment program will be starting up again the week of October 3. For those of you new to Wickliffe, the ASD program lets K-5 students explore diverse interests through fun extracurricular courses like dance, fashion, robotics, yoga, chess, basketball, and more! ASD has been a huge success in the past because of the amazing support from our Wickliffe community, including school staff, families, and local businesses. Look for a flyer coming home in your child's backpack THIS week. It will have dates, courses, fees, etc. Information will also be posted on the PTO's After School Discovery website soon, at https://www.wickliffepto.org/asd. We are looking forward to another exciting year!

We are officially kicking off our 2022-2023 Cub Scout year! All K-5 students are welcome.

You may have seen our flyer posted in the Families of Wickliffe Progressive Elementary Facebook page. Our first Pack meeting will be September 7. We will be welcoming new scouts, earning our Bobcat badge, and learning more about our annual popcorn sale (with samples to taste!).

We meet the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church (2070 Ridgecliff Rd.). Please invite any friends who might be interested in scouting!

Wickliffe Social (formerly Informal Affair)
The committee for the Wickliffe Social is holding its first meeting tonight, Tuesday, September 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the school. We are looking for more committee members to help plan this November's adult-only fundraising event. After School Discovery (ASD)
This committee works throughout the year to provide after-school enrichment classes/programs for our K-5 students. There are fall, winter, and spring ASD sessions and this committee is looking for more volunteers to help make this amazing offering continue smoothly throughout the year. Happy holiday weekend, families! 

What a wonderful three weeks it has been. I have been able to visit every classroom to do a “meet the school counselor lesson” in the past two weeks, except for Mrs. Kernen’s K/1 class (next week!!). It has been a joy to get to know your children and hear their vision for their school and community.  

Classroom Guidance 

I will be in classrooms again in September. K/1 classrooms will be receiving two lessons: a lesson on feelings and a social skills lesson that we are still creating based on each classroom’s needs. 2/3 classrooms will be receiving a lesson on “size of the problem.” This lesson aims to teach children how to problem solve and respond appropriately to issues that arise. 4/5  classrooms will be receiving a lesson on feelings vocabulary and coping skills. Whenever I am in your child’s classroom, I will be sending them home with a “parent letter,” describing in more detail what we did and how you can reinforce this new learning at home!
