SUBJECT: Wickliffe PTO Weekly - What to watch for this week (2.28.2023)

Facebook
What to watch for this week:
Time is flying

Spring break is in less than two weeks and our biggest spring fundraiser is next week. We hope you will join us at our second annual Wickliffe Art Show taking place Wednesday, March 8, andThursday, March 9. It is an open house, so please attend whichever night works best for your family. If you can't attend, you still have the opportunity to purchase your child(s) art and support our PTO at the same time. I've included details below about the event and purchasing art online. We know this event is a favorite for our children, and we love watching them selectively drop their raffle tickets into a teacher experience jar with so much hope in their heart that their name is drawn.

I can't wait to see you next week!

We need volunteers!

Lunch Volunteers - New Dates Opened Up!
Our fabulous Chef Mike could use two volunteers every day for lunch. It is a super fun way to contribute and see all the students at lunch time. Sign up here:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4faaaf22a5f58-lunch

Chef Mike would love to have a list of subs who are available certain days of the week and can be called or contacted in case the person who signed up needs to cancel. This way if you can't make your shift you can look at the sub list and work on finding a replacement. Please click here to add yourself to the sub list.

Walking Club
We are looking for Walking Club volunteers! There are many spots available. Please review the available slots and click on the button to sign up. It's lots of fun! Thank you!

Love to run?

The PTO After School Discovery program is looking for adults with a passion for running. We would love to add a running club to the spring session of classes and are seeking an instructor. Class would be from 3-4 one day per week for 6 weeks. And, you would get paid! Please email wickliffeptoasd@gmail.com if you are interested. This would be so great for our kids!

Classroom helpers
The Wickliffe PTO is looking for some helpers. Our teachers have so much on their plates and we are looking to lighten their load by starting a room parent program. We have gathered teacher requests and are now looking to fill these spots. Do you have a few minutes a week to devote to this and want to learn more? Just fill out this form!

Thanks!
Desiree Hickey, Family Connect Chair

Supporting a Wickliffe Wolf

During yesterdays town meeting, Mr. Hamilton’s class shared about one of their third grade students, Laura Paluck, who is out of school right now due to an illness. Laura has been diagnosed with bone cancer and is currently undergoing treatments. The message to students was about supporting Laura as a school community and showering her with love as she faces this challenge. The school shared with the students only that Laura is currently sick and is getting the best treatment possible. They did not say anything specifically about cancer, and also recognize that your child may come home with questions. You are welcome to share more with your children at home and to follow Laura’s progress on the CaringBridge account.

**Please note that the Palucks have requested that this information stay within our Wickliffe community. They have asked for this to not be posted on social media.

Looking to help out with the Coffee Cart this winter?

Our Staff Appreciation Committee brings a cart of coffee, tea, treats, and snacks around the school to share with all staff. It’s a small but important way to show our educators our immense appreciation for all they do (and help them sneak in a little caffeine!).

The coffee cart is offered on Wednesdays from 7:45 a.m.-9:15 a.m. and we are in search of volunteers to help with a morning shift (making coffee, stocking the cart, and walking it around to the classrooms). Can’t join us in person? You can also support by making an early morning donut run. Lots of ways to get involved!

Sign up here or contact Marjie.Bland@gmail.com with questions!

The PTO is looking for more volunteers. Below are open committee roles and executive positions we are currently trying to fill.

  • PTO President-Elects - two people to start their elect roles now and then transition to the president roles for this coming 2023-2024 school year.
  • PTO Fundraising Chair-Elects - one or two fundraising chair-elects who would start in their elect roles now and then transition to the fundraising chair roles for the coming school year.

If you have interest in these committees or executive positions or would like to learn more about the responsibilities and time commitment, please email us at wickliffepto@gmail.com.

BoxTop for Education

BoxTop for Education

Dear Families,

Are you looking for a quick and easy way to support our school?

Box Tops for Education has been around for over 25 years, and it really can make a difference. In fact, the Box Tops program has helped give almost one billion dollars to schools since 1996.

The Box Tops app gives participants the ability to earn for any school across the country with just the touch of a button. Plus, the Box Tops app allows you to search for schools that could use a little extra help, so you can help give students in low-income schools the opportunity to succeed.
