Boot drive

Mrs. Oberlin's 4/5 class has been working on ways to foster kindness and to support our school community. Our class is leading a boot drive to help children who do not have snow boots. We are asking families to check their closets for old boots in good condition that they might have outgrown. We will match the boots to a student in need. We hope to also offer a boot borrowing station for students who simply forgot their boots. There is a donation box in the Town Square.

Looking to get involved?

Help stock the staff lounge

We will be doing a six-week rotation by grades to help stock the staff lounge. Now until March 10, we are asking for donations from second and third grade families. Sign up here to provide snacks, drinks, and fruit for our lovely staff at Wickliffe! Drop off info is included in the Sign-up Genius or if you are at the school, please feel free to place it in the staff lounge (just indicate that in the sign-up comments).Thank you!

Walking Club

We are looking for Walking Club volunteers! There are many spots available. Please review the available slots and click on the button to sign up. It's lots of fun! Thank you!

Love to run?

The PTO After School Discovery program is looking for adults with a passion for running. We would love to add a running club to the spring session of classes and are seeking an instructor. Class would be from 3-4 one day per week for 6 weeks. And, you would get paid! Please email wickliffeptoasd@gmail.com if you are interested. This would be so great for our kids!

Classroom helpers

The Wickliffe PTO is looking for some helpers. Our teachers have so much on their plates and we are looking to lighten their load by starting a room parent program. We have gathered teacher requests and are now looking to fill these spots. Do you have a few minutes a week to devote to this and want to learn more? Just fill out this form!

Thanks!
Desiree Hickey, Family Connect Chair

Open PTO positions

The PTO is looking for more volunteers. Below are open committee roles and executive positions we are currently trying to fill.

  • Wickapalooza Music Festival Committee - a couple more committee members to support the planning of this event happening Friday, May 12.

  • PTO President-Elects - two people to start their elect roles now and then transition to the president roles for this coming 2023-2024 school year.

  • PTO Fundraising Chair-Elects - one or two fundraising chair-elects who would start in their elect roles now and then transition to the fundraising chair roles for the coming school year.

If you have interest in these committees or executive positions or would like to learn more about the responsibilities and time commitment, please email us at wickliffepto@gmail.com.

Coffee cart

Our Staff Appreciation Committee brings a cart of coffee, tea, treats, and snacks around the school to share with all staff. It’s a small but important way to show our educators our immense appreciation for all they do (and help them sneak in a little caffeine!).

The coffee cart is offered on Wednesdays from 7:45 a.m.-9:15 a.m. and we are in search of volunteers to help with a morning shift (making coffee, stocking the cart, and walking it around to the classrooms). Can’t join us in person? You can also support by making an early morning donut run. Lots of ways to get involved!

Sign up here or contact Marjie.Bland@gmail.com with questions!

DEI discussions this week

  • Monday, February 20, is World Day of Social Justice. Started in 2007, this day focuses on issues like poverty, exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections. Check out these related book recommendations.
  • Black History Month continues and is a great opportunity to talk to kids about the history and achievements of African Americans. Books, movies, dance, music, and crafts can help guide these discussions. And, remember the importance of allyship
  • The Wickliffe PTO Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion committee's upcoming events:
    • Our next DEI meeting is this Thursday, February 16, at 5:30 at Wickliffe. All are welcome!
    • Our next book club will be Thursday, March 23, at 5:30 at Wickliffe. We will be discussing The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together by Heather McGhee.
    • We have created a sign up for subcommittees to help host/moderate other upcoming events. Check out the details and sign up here
