Facebook
What to watch for this week:

The Book Fair was a huge success! A big thank you to our Book Fair coordinators Dawn Hofherr, Jennie Lawrence, and all the volunteers that helped throughout the week. It was wonderful having the set up in the media/library center and hopefully your children enjoyed their experience.

Don't forget we have a Restaurant Night this week. On Wednesday you can go and dine in at the Piada on Lane Avenue or you can order online any day this week and a portion of the proceeds will go back to the PTO.

Enjoy your week!

LAST CALL! Playground and outdoor play space update

This fall, a team of folks has been vetting a few companies to determine who would be the best fit to create an outdoor play and learning space that matches Wickliffe's philosophy. While it’s taken a little longer than expected, we have decided to move forward with Learning Landscapes (https://learninglandscapesdesign.com/). They are a landscape architecture and design firm that collaborates with teams to create inspiring places for learning and play. This firm will take an “all hands” approach in supporting our community in gathering input from various groups. This will be a partnership and one that we will rely on to look closely at our site and analyze the entire outdoor area, not just the castle space.

The lead designer of our project will be coming to Wickliffe on January 17 for an all-day session with our school and will then be facilitating a community event in the evening to gather input from as many community members interested in our play space.

I am creating a core team of caregivers who can partner with our school community and Learning Landscapes in seeing this project through. If you are interested and passionate about outdoor play spaces, please consider joining our core team. We are looking for folks who have experience in the following roles who would be interested in taking the lead to support our outdoor play space:

  • Public Relations: Someone who can help support communication and advertising of this project
  • Fundraising Coordinator: Someone who has experience and will take the lead to organize, lead, and execute a fundraising campaign
  • Project Coordinator: Someone who has experience in construction and can provide input on the process; there may be components that we install ourselves with the help of volunteers
  • Landscape: Someone who is well versed in landscape design; there may be components that we install ourselves with the help of volunteers
  • Passion for play and the outdoors

If this is something you are interested in and or would like to hear more about, please complete this survey. by this Friday, December 16.

Thanks,
Angela

Chef Mike - new lunch sign up
Chef Mike is back! We have created a Sign Up Genius with slots through the rest of the year. It seems to be the hottest ticket in town so don't miss out on your chance to help and volunteer.https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4faaaf22a5f58-lunch1

Did you know there is also a list of subs who can be contacted in case the person who signed up needs to cancel? This way if you can't make your shift, you can easily find a replacement. You can also add yourself to the substitute list for certain days of the week if you are interested in helping out more.

Please click here to add yourself to the sub list, or to find a sub if you can't make it.

Guess who's back? Coffee Cart is back!

Cooler weather calls for hot coffee, tea, and treats for our dedicated Wickliffe staff. One of the core offerings of the Staff Appreciation Committee is the Coffee Cart. We make coffee and tea, gather treats and snacks, and then travel throughout the school to share with all staff. It’s a small but important way to show our educators our immense appreciation for all they do (and help them sneak in a little caffeine!).

The coffee cart is offered on Wednesdays from 7:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. and we are in search of volunteers to help with a morning shift (making coffee, stocking the cart, and walking it around to the classrooms). Can’t join us in person? You can also support by making an early morning donut run. Lots of ways to get involved! Contact Marjie.Bland@gmail.com if you’re interested in helping!
