We want to show the teachers and staff at Wickliffe how much we appreciate all of their hard work and support during the school year! We invite you to sign up and adopt a teacher or staff member for either a month or for the rest of the school year. Up to 3 families can sign up to adopt the same teacher/staff member. 

During the time you have adopted the teacher/staff member let them know that you are thinking about them! Send them encouraging e-mails, mail them a card, drop off a small treat at the Front Office, etc. 

You do not need to spend a lot of money adopting the teacher/staff member just let them know you and your family are thinking about them and are thankful for all of the hard work!

We are excited to be partnering with local business Steven's Catering on all four Wednesdays in February! Each week has a new selection of delicious family style meals to-go, and 10% of each order benefits our school. This flyer shows all the menus and pricing, and you can choose to participate in any or all 4 weeks.

Here's the menu for week 3, all orders include 1 entree, 2 sides and a house salad. A half order is about the right amount for a family of 4 with no leftovers.

• To order: place your order before NOON on Friday February 12th. Order online using this link (please check you are ordering from the Wickliffe menu), and Steven's Catering will call you to confirm payment information. Or order by phone on 614-486-1221.
• Pick up: your week 3 meal on Wednesday, February 17th between 5pm and 6pm, at Wickliffe. Drive thru the bus loop to pick up your meal kit. Heat, serve and enjoy!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for Week 4: orders are due by noon February 19; pick up on Wednesday, February 24th. Order online from Monday 2/15.

There is currently no charge for elementary students to buy school lunch through the end of the school year due to a USDA National Waiver.

• IN-SCHOOL: To pre-order meals from Nutritional Services on the days your student is in school, please click here to make your selection, orders need to be placed by 10pm one day in advance. The lunches are delivered to the classrooms.

• REMOTE: Multi-day meal packs are available for pick up for any student learning remotely (at home days in the school-based pathway and students in the Online Academy). Families must request a weekly meal pack for their student:
  • for the week of February 8, please complete this form.
  • for the week of February 15, please complete this form.
  • for the week of February 22, please complete this form.
    

Meals are available for pick up on Wednesdays for all students.
The week of Feb 8, meal pickup is Wednesday 10th at 11:45am - 12:30pm, at Wickliffe.

Please note: if you cannot make that time slot, the PTO would like to help by bringing your child's meal pack to you - please reach out to us (wickliffepto@gmail.com) and we will work with you to drop off the meal to your house.

UACA Golden Apple Award nominations are open! Anyone is welcome to submit a nomination for any faculty member (outstanding teacher or favorite longtime staff member) by completing the form on the UACA website here, by Friday, February 26. 

Just a few quick updates:

Our Online Academy Learners have started two wonderful initiatives that reflect our 3Cs (community, compassion, and civility).

• They are collecting clean or new socks (adult and childrens) to donate to the Homeless Family Foundation for people who are experiencing homelessness during the pandemic.

• They are also collecting  pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House to support families who are staying there while a loved one is at Nationwide Children's Hospital receiving care.

There will be a collection box (for the socks) and container (for the pop tabs) thanks to Dustin and Morgan Kraft, by the front door for the month of February. Thank you in advance for your donations.

Another group of children hard at work are our IDEA Mentors (identity, diversity, equity, and action).  These students are working on Wolfcast videos and posters for the school to celebrate Black History Month. They also want to extend an invitation to all members of the Wickliffe community to submit videos to Mr. Stevenson (jstevenson@uaschools.org) for Wolfcast to honor this very important month.

As we are approaching the one year mark of what most people consider the start of the global pandemic in our country, children and adults alike are wrestling with many emotions.

A special thank you to Ms. Giles and Ms Rodriquez for introducing me to LeUyen Pham’s newest book, Outside, Inside. This is a wonderful book that captures the journey that we have all been on since March. With her beautiful illustrations and poetic language, Pham finds just the right words to describe what we have been through while paying tribute to the essential workers. Outside, Inside reminds us that spring will come again. 

I’ve included this trailer to give you a taste of this book. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did.
