SUBJECT: Wickliffe PTO Weekly - What to Watch for this Week (1.19.2021)

Facebook
What to Watch for This Week:

Hello Wickliffe families,

We hope you stayed warm for the long weekend, and had a restful Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

This week, mark your calendar for restaurant fundraiser Wednesdays throughout February: we are excited to partner with local business Steven's Catering for four weeks of family style meals. Select from a different menu each week, and Steven's Catering will donate 10% of your order to benefit our school. Read on for all the details.

We are continuing to provide snacks to show our teachers how much we appreciate them, and to give them a boost through the day. Sign up if you'd like to contribute, drop items to Kelley's porch or perhaps order online for delivery to Kelley Swiney at 3942 Newhall Rd, to save a trip!

Read on for the remote learning meal information for this week. And, don't miss Dr. Kassoy's counselor's corner - including information on winter lunch groups, one-on-one support for all students, and Online Academy meet up dates. Plus, take a minute to recharge with Dr. Kassoy's food for thought on the benefits of exercise for children's mental health, and fun ways to keep moving in the winter months.

Have a great week,

Kelley Swiney and the whole PTO.

Dr. Kassoy's Food For Thought

The good news is that the days are getting longer. The bad news is that the sun rarely shines. Taking care of our mental health is always important, but as we continue to navigate COVID, it is more important than ever.

The research tells us that exercise and mental wellness are connected. In this article the author explains the importance of physical activity and mental health in adolescents. Starting when children are young will develop good habits.

So as your family is exploring ways to stay fit during this pandemic, our metro parks are a great place for an outdoor adventure. Check out this blog about winter hiking. It might be fun to have everyone in the family earn their unique 2020/2021 Winter Hike patch. Happy hiking!!

Until next week,
