A message from our PTO President:

Hello Wickliffe Families,

I hope that everyone enjoyed a short break for Thanksgiving and were able to be thankful and grateful for the blessings we do have.  I know that, even as we return to EDL, I am most thankful to our Wickliffe teachers and staff for all that they continue to do for our students. I am beyond grateful to be a member of a school community that focuses on the student first and foremost.  This year has been so different and at times difficult for all of us so as we look to finishing 2020 at home with our students, my wish for all is that we remember to always give grace. Grace to our students, Grace to the teachers and staff working so hard for our students and finally Grace to ourselves.  We are all doing the best we can and in the end, that is more than enough.

Finally, as always, please know that the PTO is here to support you, your family and student, in anyway that we can.  If there is a need that you have, please let us know. We do have some school supplies available for pick up if your student needs them to continue being successful in remote learning. Feel free to email Mrs Evans or the PTO if there is anything that we can help with.

Thank you for all that you are doing and have done to support our school community.

Kelley Swiney

Directory - Search by Teacher

Tips and Tricks: How to assign your student's classroom teacher in the directory

The directory is set up to allow you to search for the contact information of your student's friends in multiple ways - by student or by parent, by name or by grade.

We also have the option to search by classroom teacher but in some cases the assignment is missing. To match your student to their teacher:

  • click the link below,
  • if prompted, sign in (with your email address and password)
  • select the appropriate teacher name from the list, and
  • click save.

If you notice a friend is missing their teacher assignment, please pass this tip on!

For privacy reasons, the directory is only available to PTO members - to join please click here. If the $25 dues are a barrier to joining, please send an email to wickliffepto@gmail.com for the fee to be waived.

Counseling Team Updates
  • Please join us on Sunday evening, December 6th, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM https://zoom.us/j/7191866057 for our next Parent Coffee. This conversation is entitled, “Navigating the Holidays.” As we know, staying connected with our Wickliffe families is more important than ever. We hope you can join us for this discussion.

  • Online Academy MeetUp - Please have your OA learners join us for a Holiday Hangout on Thursday, December 3rd from 11:00 to 12:00 on Zoom  https://zoom.us/j/7191866057 for games and a craft.  All your child needs is 6 pieces of paper (any kind will do), a pair of scissors, a glue stick, and their imagination. It is a great way to stay connected with each other while learning apart.

Dr. Kassoy's Food for Thought

As we head back to Enhanced Distanced Learning, I decided to reread an article about tips for learning online. Since this is our third time doing this (once in the spring, the start of the school year, and now) we all have different feelings about EDL. Some families are relieved to be back home away from the potential threat of COVID while others are dreading the idea of having to juggle work and school for the next month. As I often remind your children, whatever you are feeling is an okay feeling to have at this time.

So, please remember to practice self-care and self-compassion so that you can be your best self. Remember to have realistic expectations for yourself and your children so that you are not in a constant state of frustration and disappointment. And please practice forgiveness for yourself and your family. We are all doing our best!

As always, I hope the article either affirms for you something that you are already doing or is a gentle reminder of things that you might consider trying.
