What to Watch for This Week:

Hello Wickliffe families!

Here's a quick recap for what to watch for this week, please read on for all the details posted below, and also on our website. :)

  • A big THANK YOU to everyone who placed orders for the Fall Mum sale and for our Spirit Wear sale. We had awesome participation and we hope you'll enjoy your new apparel and Mumsters. Don't forget! Mum pickup is on Thursday (10/1) from 3pm to 7pm at the Kingsdale Center parking lot.
  • Help! We currently have two ways you can volunteer: first, we'd desperately LOVE your help on Thursday October 1st with the mum delivery/pickup; and secondly, we are continuing to collect prepackaged snacks and drinks for teacher appreciation. Please sign up if you can help!
  • Ms. Evan's shared information on school photos coming up in October and the new car line arrival/dismissal procedure, a reminder is included below.
  • And, Dr. Kassoy has lots happening in Counselor's Corner, along with her thoughts on coping with COVID restrictions over the holidays.

Have a great week!

Kelley Swiney and the whole PTO

School Pictures
  • HR Imaging will be photographing school portraits at our school on October 16th and the 21st.  Prepay portrait envelopes will be sent home with our hybrid students in the upcoming weeks. All students (including those in our online academy) should receive an email providing information about picture day and your student’s online access from HR Imaging if a valid parent email is on file with our school. If you don’t receive an email, simply visit hrimaging.com and enter Wickliffe Elementary to order online.
  • Due to social distancing, we will not be taking classroom group pictures this fall.  Our hope is to be able to take them in the spring.  If you have questions, please feel free to call HR Imaging at 740.369.4215

Joining the PTO is NOT a commitment to volunteer (although you are always welcome) or to attend PTO meetings (if you do, we would love to hear from you).

    • An idea, sketch, or drawing of a sign for our rock garden (if they want to help design the sign)

    • Any decorated rocks that they would like to add to the garden (in addition to the ones that were created at our Fancyburg MeetUp).

  • Zoom office hours will be Mondays, Wednesday,s and Fridays from 8:00 to 9:00 for children who are learning from home on those days. Please use this link.  https://zoom.us/j/7191866057

Dr. Kassoy's Food for Thought

The holiday season begins at the end of October with some children celebrating Día de los Muertos or Halloween. Families are starting to wonder about how to do this safely.

We have been having the same conversations for my two granddaughters, so I found this article to be helpful in guiding our decisions. I hope you do, too.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays.html

As we are continually challenged to adapt during COVID, I hope that we can find opportunities to enjoy the holiday season in new ways. One of the many things I love about our Wickliffe kiddos is that they are super creative and very curious. So, encourage them to learn about a holiday tradition that is different from their own. Or challenge them to create new fun ways to trick or treat.

I am eager to hear what they come up with!

Until next week,

Felice, Brittany and Rebecca (my two fabulous interns)
